DO YOU FIND IT HARD TO RESPOND NATURALLY AND SPONTANEOUSLY WITH YOUR ENGLISH-SPEAKING COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS?

Get your own Small Talk Check-up so you can learn how to improve your casual English speaking skills.

Tell me more!

Imagine this...

You're in the office lunchroom with all of your native English-speaking colleagues, sharing stories about work and some juicy office gossip.

Jackie, a young chatty lady who sits next to you, starts talking about some cute guy she met in an elevator one day. She keeps going on and on about her conversation with him and suddenly turns to you and asks for your opinion.

“So, do you think I should text him? What should I say when I do?”

All of a sudden, everyone in the lunchroom turns to you, patiently waiting for you to answer Jackie’s question.

But instead of responding to Jackie’s seemingly innocent and simple question, you end up giving them the most unacceptable social response - a plain blank stare with your mouth half-opened.

Awkward.

Has this ever happened to you?

Being asked a simple question and you couldn't even answer them naturally and spontaneously in English?

It can be quite hard to respond to real-life, casual conversations in English, especially if you’re a non-native English speaker.

Sure, you might have something to say about Jackie’s exciting cute-guy-in-the-elevator experience. But thinking of what to say and how to say it naturally in English is a totally different scenario.

Hey, I get it. I know what it feels like being in that kind of situation.

You listen carefully to the group conversation and come up with your own thoughts but ended up not socializing with them, only because you simply didn’t know how to respond.

Or how about being in this kind of situation...

Your colleague, Samantha, said something to you during an afternoon coffee break. She started talking about what happened to her over the weekend.

You tried your best to respond to what she was sharing with you but you had this ridiculous dumb look and blank stare on your face.

Seconds went by and you still had no reply. Then it happened…

The dreaded awkward silence.

You know, the one where it feels like the world stops. That awkward silence that makes you so uncomfortable that you wish you could just disappear at that time.

I don’t know about you but there has to be a better way for you to respond naturally and spontaneously in English with your English-speaking colleagues and friends.

Well, guess what. I have good news for you!

With the help of my Small Talk Check-up service, you can help improve on your problem areas when speaking in English.

But first things first...

What can YOU do to speak more naturally and spontaneously in English?

One of the most important things you need to do is to figure out exactly which areas of casual speaking in English you struggle with the most.

Is it not knowing filler words that you can use to hesitate while you think of an answer? Or is it not being able to come up with quick replies?

You simply need to know which specific areas you need to improve on, so you can respond naturally and spontaneously to your English-speaking colleagues and friends.

With the help of my Small Talk Check-up service, you can find out which specific areas in English you have difficulty with.

Knowing your problem areas would help you improve your speaking skills, so you can respond naturally and spontaneously in English with less difficulty.

So you’ll no longer struggle in silence in your office lunchroom or have that ridiculous dumb look and blank stare on your face while your colleagues talk about their day.

When was the last time you had a check-up at the doctor?

They say “ An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.

But let’s face it. It’s normal to visit the doctor to find out problem areas in our health. We can’t live the way we do now without the help of our trusted doctors.

Without their expertise, you wouldn’t know if your blood pressure has gone up.

Or without your doctor’s diagnosis, you also wouldn’t find out if your lifestyle may be causing a lifetime of health issues in your body.

Doctors are life savers that we should always take seriously.

It’s the same thing when it comes to other problem areas in our life too. Especially the ones that we use on a daily basis.

With the Small Talk Check-up, you will see exactly how you’re doing with various aspects of casual conversation and find out areas in which you need to improve.

How the Small Talk Check-up can help you

When was the last time you had a conversation with your colleague and she told you that you needed to improve on your gap fillers or your feedback tokens?

It probably has never happened. Right?

Your native English-speaking colleagues will feel the awkwardness of the casual conversations but won’t be able to tell you in which areas you can improve and how to do so.

However, after having a casual conversation with me, I’ll be able to tell you exactly what you need to work on to improve and give you tips on how to go about doing so.

Who Am I and Why Should You Trust Me?

Hi there! I’m Leandra King, the founder of English with Leandra.

I help non-native English-speaking professionals and expats like you learn how to be more spontaneous, natural and polite in casual conversations in English so you can socialize and fit in more easily with your native English-speaking friends and colleagues.

Trust me, I totally get it.

I understand your feelings of frustration when it comes to having casual conversations in English. I've had the same struggles in French too.

In 2013, I moved to Martinique, a French-speaking country, to work as an English language assistant at two schools.

I had a high level of French which meant I could follow along in conversations in French pretty easily and I could also communicate with others.

BUT and a BIG one!

I still struggled to make small talk and to have casual, everyday conversations in French. And because of my experience, I can empathize with your struggles and frustrations.

That’s why I created the Small Talk Check-up as a shortcut, so you don’t have to struggle and figure it out all on your own!

Before having a small talk session, I was a bit under pressure as I didn’t know how to fill these silent moments. After one session, I have more assurance now when talking to an American native English speaking person on the phone and feel like an equal partner in the conversation. I noticed the quality of the work document you prepared and I really enjoyed it.

This is ideal for persons who often interact with native English speakers; persons who have an advanced or upper intermediate level of English but want to learn how to be more natural and spontaneous in their conversations so that they can feel integrated with native English speakers. Soon-to-be expats and new expats in an English-speaking country will find this service particularly helpful.

Do I need to prepare anything ahead of time?

You won’t need to prepare any assignments ahead of time. We’ll just have a casual conversation. Imagine that you’re having a cup of coffee with a new colleague and getting to know her better. No worries or stress.

What is Zoom and how will we use it?

Zoom is a video conferencing software, similar to Skype, that we will use to “meet” online. Zoom has better audio quality that will greatly help during our live meeting. When you sign up for your Small Talk Check-up, you’ll get a link to the Zoom meeting room. Just click on that link at the scheduled meeting time and open the software and I’ll meet you on the other side.

What happens after the Zoom meeting?

After we have our conversation on Zoom, I’ll prepare the written evaluation and audio feedback based on what I have observed during our conversation. You will get these two documents, along with the Small Talk Pro Cheat sheet within 48 hours of our meeting.
